Analyzing the Operating Difficulties on Small-Scale Long Term Care Institution in Southern Taiwan

The purpose of this study was to employ SWOT method to explore the operating difficulties of a small-scale long-term care institution in Southern Taiwan. Due to the social demographic problem of aging, the government has promoted the long-term care 2.0 policy, by the way, many long-term care institutions entered the market. Small private long-term care institutions are in the process of operating reform and repositioning. We used SWOT analysis to explore the current situation of operational difficulties of a case institution and obtain strategies. The conclusions were presented:

(1) Making good use of the original advantages and integrate social resources to help disadvantaged elders, disabled, and homeless persons in the community, to fulfill the responsibility for social welfare and sign an emergency resettlement contract with the local government ;

(2) Implement of the E-system, for increasing work efficiency, on reaching the standard in an annual evaluation and promoting its competitiveness ;

(3) Developing mutual assistance and cooperation between organizations, including online advertising ;

(4) Cultivating the manpower needed for the long-term care of the school on seamlessly integrated with the practical field ;

(5) According with government policies on improving public safety facilities and equipment, replacing old public security fire control facilities with new ones, and increasing the quality of safety ;

(6) Developing a diversified care service model and begining to sign a special contract for respite with the local government with development of respite services for institutions in conjunction with long-term care 2.0 related plans
